Tshwane University of Technology
One of the key focus areas of Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is the economic and social development of the Southern African region. Over 15 years, Prof. Paul Jagals has been conducting environmental health research in a variety of settings in rural and peri-urban South Africa. This multi-disciplinary field requires the expertise from e.g. epidemiologists to answer questions like: What is the extent of the environmental burden of disease in Southern Africa?

"Being an environmental health specialist myself and not an epidemiologist, I consulted Annette Gerritsen to assist me in the analysis of data on diarrhoea incidence that were collected over the years. She advised us on the interpretation of the results she found, and made valuable suggestions on improvements in the data collection for future studies. "
