Health Impact Assessment course
In August-September 2011 I did a 2.5-week online course on Health Impact Assessment from the International Health Impact Assessment Consortium (IMPACT) which is based at the University of Liverpool. Although I have been involved in the baseline assessment phase of a HIA, it was informative to now go through all the phases, using HIAs that have been conducted as cases. What I found very interesting, and I noticed a similar thing when doing other courses, is that due to the different backgrounds of the participants everyone looked at potential health impacts from a different perspective. As an epidemiologist I focussed on a very narrow cause-effect relationship, while others had a much broader view.
