HIV, Sex and Cultural Difference Symposium
On 8 September 2011 I attended a symposium on HIV, Sex and Cultural Difference in Tzaneen which was organised by The Anova Health Institute and Khutso Kurhula in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Development in Mopani in Limpopo Province. The symposium covered i.e. barriers to successful programmes, men having sex with men, discordant couples, pre-exposure prophylaxis, sexually transmitted infections, and was mainly aimed at those working with HIV patients. However, for me it was good to meet up with the staff from Anova and HIVSA, as I am currently busy assisting the latter in setting up a study on cell phone use in providing information on e.g. HIV.
