The 2nd South African TB Conference

From 1-4 June 2010, the 2nd South African TB Conference was held at the ICC in Durban. The theme of the conference was ‘Forging Strategic Partnerships to Fight TB and HIV’ with the aim of addressing the need for partnerships between researchers, government, health workers, civil society, NGO’s, the private sector and communities to develop effective strategies to fight TB and HIV and to ensure access to TB/HIV services. It was a good opportunity for me to get a quick overview of the status of the TB epidemic and available diagnosis and intervention options, and for networking with experts in this field.

Participatory Monitoring & Evaluation course

In September-October 2011 I did a 5-week online course on Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E) from Village Earth (Colorado State University). The course provided me with lots of interesting reading materials, and there were active discussions online with the fellow participants
