Current projects

Migration and health

Epi Result is currently providing editorial support to a book that is part of an INDEPTH initiative to better understand Migration and Urbanization in African and Asian settings. This is done by e.g. reviewing all the chapters for methodological quality. The book will provide a much-needed understanding of migration patterns in various developing world settings, and assesses the consequences of migration in terms of individual health and well-being. Annette Gerritsen is also a co-author on a chapter of the book which describes a study examining whether migration and/or other household factors were associated with changes in household socio-economic status over the period 2001 to 2005 in the Agincourt sub-district of Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Malaria treatment and prevention

Epi Result is currently involved in a collaborative project focusing on trends in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of malaria treatment and prevention in Africa, by providing support in the identification of RCTs and the data extraction from the studies found. The objectives of the study are to identify and describe these trials and to analyze the geographical and temporal distribution, and characteristics (type of interventions, participants, sample size, methodological quality) of the trials.
