Research proposal writing

This 3-day course gives an introduction to the various steps in the process of writing a study proposal.
This is done by familiarizing participants with:

• What research is?
• The criteria that can be used for selecting health-related problems to be given priority in research
• The components that should be dealt with in a research proposal
• The concepts of problem statement, and general and specific research objectives
• How to write a literature review
• The different data collecting techniques in quantitative research
• The common sampling methods
• The stages in the data collection process
• Ethical issues involved in research and ways of ensuring that research participants are not harmed
• The concepts of pre-test or pilot study
• The components of a work plan, budget and a plan for the utilization of results
• The different types of questions in a questionnaire
• The steps in designing a questionnaire
• Important interview skills
